Congratulations to Jyoti Mehta, our Parent Satisfaction Survey award winner. Jyoti, a parent of two Heritage Oak students, was selected from over 2,500 survey participants and will receive a $5,000 tuition credit for the 2010/2011 school year. We would like to thank all of our parents for their feedback and we will be sharing the results of the study with you soon.

Please welcome Meritas in congratulating North Broward Preparatory School senior Isabel Vogt on her selection as a National Merit Scholar. The news of this outstanding achievement is accompanied by Isabel’s truly remarkable college acceptance season. Isabel was accepted into 100% of the schools to which she applied: University of Chicago, Columbia, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, and Wesleyan. Congratulations, Isabel.

Meritas is pleased to announce the 13th annual European Charity Band Tour scheduled for June 9th-16th. 80 Meritas music students will meet at the North
Broward Preparatory School campus on June 5th to practice and prepare for the trip; they leave for London on June 9th. In addition to London, the trip will take the band to Amsterdam, Lucerne, Lugano, Vienna, Munich, and Brussels. They will play multiple concerts in each city for the underprivileged and sick. Additionally, the band will play a large concert at the Collège du Léman, a Meritas school located in Geneva, Switzerland. Working with the Make-A-Wish™ Foundation of Austria, the band will also grant a wish for a child in Vienna. Last year, the band helped bring an Austrian boy suffering from cancer to Disneyworld™ in Orlando, FL for a week.

Congratulations to the 15 students from Instituto San Roberto who recently participated in the ASOMEX National MathCounts competition in Puebla, Mexico. MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. Students from Mexico and El Salvador competed in the event, with ISR’s Mauricio Cruz, Mauricio Diaz, and Víctor Tijerina placing in the top 10.

On February 15th, the annual Meritas Dance Festival was held at the Collège du Léman campus in Geneva, Switzerland. Over 100 dance students from all Meritas schools attended the event, taking master classes in various dance styles and exploring new techniques. The festival culminated in multiple performances from all of the participants.

Meritas is pleased to announce Cindy Proske from
The Village School in Houston, Texas as the recipient of the 2009/2010
Meritas Excellence in Teaching Award. Cindy, a middle school
mathematics teacher, was chosen from over 600 Meritas teachers. On top
of a full teaching load, Cindy also serves as the Dean of Students for
the Village middle school. Congratulations Cindy and thank you for your
dedication to The Village School and its students.
