Meritas Fine Arts Festival - 4/1/09
The Inaugural Meritas Music Festival was
held March 25th-28th at The Village School in Houston,
Texas. Three Hundred and Thirty Band, Choir, Orchestra and Guitar
students from all of our Meritas Schools came together for a weekend of
rehearsals and classes culminating in a gala concert culminating in the
premier performance of the “Meritas Anthem” composed entirely by faculty
and staff of the Meritas schools.
Meritas
Expands to China - 3/16/09
The Léman International School
will open in Chengdu, China in fall 2009 to initially serve the
pre-kindergarten to 5th grade children of European, American, and Asian
expatriates. The school will eventually admit middle and high school
students as well. The Léman International School is the latest of 19
distinguished institutions of learning in the global Meritas Family of
Schools. Spanning three continents, Meritas schools are educating more
than 12,000 children. Leveraging its association with Meritas, the Léman
International School will offer a nurturing, child-centered culture
informed by decades' worth of classroom-proven best practices.
Francis
A. Clivaz Award - 7/1/08
Meritas is proud to announce that Mrs.
Giao Fehr, Director of the Francophone Section of Collège du Léman, is the
recipient of the first annual Francis A. Clivaz Award. This award has
been established to recognize our most talented, passionate, and
tireless educators. Mrs. Fehr embodies all these attributes and deserves
special commendation for her work in building the Francophone section
of CdL, a Meritas School in Geneva, Switzerland.
Student
Government Summit - 6/1/08
Almost 100 student government officers
and their faculty advisers from Meritas schools attended a week
long assembly to discuss opportunities for collaboration and
philanthropic efforts. The summit was hosted in Geneva, Switzerland on
the campus of Collège du
Léman, a Meritas school.
Meritas Academic Competition -
4/15/08
Meritas students from around the world gathered in Boston
for the first ever Meritas Academic Competition. Students competed
against each other individually in a Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Math
Bee, Declamation, Problem Solving, and Chess, and as a team in the Prep
Bowl event. The Village
School took first place overall, with Rancho Solano taking
second place, and Heritage
Oak taking third. Meritas congratulates all students who
participated and demonstrated the high level of academic and
intellectual prowess at all Meritas schools.
Interim Courses -
11/30/07
Meritas announces 2008 Interim Courses for
students to study a subject intensively, often using interdisciplinary
methods and traveling to locations pertinent to the subject.
